యానాం లో ఫ్రెంచి పాలనా కాలంలో ఇక్కడ గతించిన వారి సమాధులు ఆనాటి చరిత్రకు ఆనవాళ్ళుగా నేటికీ నిలిచే ఉన్నాయి. ఫ్రెంచి ఇండియా చరిత్రను గ్రంధస్థం చేసిన గొదార్, పాట్రిక్ పిథోఫ్, జె.బి.పి మోర్, గాబ్రియల్ పెస్సీ, ఎస్.పి.సేన్, జార్జ్ మాల్లిసన్ వంటి చరిత్రకారులు పాండిచేరీ కి సంబంధించిన విషయాలనే ఎక్కువగా పరిగణలోకి తీసుకొని, యానాన్ని దాదాపు విస్మరించటం జరిగింది. మైకేల్ గొదార్ పాండిచేరీలోని కొన్ని వందల ఫ్రెంచి సమాధి ఫలకాలను డీకోడ్ చేసి ఆయా వ్యక్తుల జీవిత చిత్రణలతో పెద్ద గ్రంధమే రచించాడు. దీనిలో యానాంలో ఉన్న ఫ్రెంచి సమాధి ఫలకాల వివరాలు పొందుపరచక పోవటం శోచనీయం. అందుచేత కొంతమంది ఫ్రెంచి దేశస్థుల వివరాలు వివిధ రికార్డులలో, ఆర్చైవులలో లభిస్తున్నా వారి సమాధులు యానాంలో ఉన్నాయన్న విషయం ప్రపంచానికి తెలియకుండా పోయింది.
నేను వ్రాసిన “ఫ్రెంచి పాలనలో యానాం” అనే పుస్తకం లో (ప్రస్తుతం ఒక స్థానిక పత్రికలో సీరియలైజ్ అవుతున్నది, త్వరలో పుస్తకరూపంలోకి తీసుకువస్తాను) ఒక చాప్టరులో యానాం ఫ్రెంచి సమాధులు లోని వ్యక్తుల వివరాలు పొందుపరచటం జరిగింది. ఆ చాప్టరు యధాతధంగా .......

Writing about Sister Claire, there was a typo about her year of birth. It was mentioned as 1820 in the title but noted as 1802 in the discription. Kindly correct it. There are some French Cemetries in Visakhapatnam around Kurupam Market, Old Town area of Visakhapatnam. They need some serious study from people like you. I once read a story about a District collector (Frenchman or British) of Visakhapatnam laying down his life in defense of a Hindu Widow. This need confirmation.
